Do you often wonder your car gives you less mileage as compared to your friends car of the same make and model?
Actually factory manufacture cars without any discrimination. It is how you create that discrimination.
"If you take care of your car, the car will take care of your pocket"
Here are some simple tips to get maximum fuel economy from each droplet of fuel:
1. Periodic Maintenance:
Regular servicing of your car reduces the chances of failure and faults, also helps in keeping it performance ready.
With time, air filter of the engine gets choked and it becomes hard for engine to breath. You can compare it with your body's performance in normal days and when you have cold. When your nasal cavity is blocked and you are not able to breath properly, your body gets tired easily due to deficiency of oxygen. Same thing happens with you car. Regularly clean and replace your car's necessary filters i.e, Engine Air Filter, AC Cabin Filter, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter.
2. Air Pressure in Tyre:
Fuel economy of your car is directly proportional to the Air Pressure in Tyres. Let us understand with a simple example. Everyone of you had a bicycle in your childhood days. You may have noticed whenever you find that there is no air in any of the tyre and you have to either drag or ride your bicycle to the nearest Puncture repair shop. It becomes a hard nut to crack as taking it there will result in clothes fill with sweat. Same thing happens with your car's engine when it has to drag the car with underinflated tyres.
Maintain tyre pressure as per your car manufacturer's recommendation.
Note:- Over-inflated tyres will result in a bumpy ride.

3. Weight:
Whenever you walk bare handed, it is an easy task for you. What if you need to carry 20Kg bag on your back. Will it be an easy task for you?
Your body will spend extra energy to carry that load. Same way when your car is overloaded, it has to burn extra fuel to carry that weight. That is why now manufacturer are focusing on light weight materials for parts.
Do not carry unwanted load in your car. Avoid using roof racks and Bullbars. Bullbars are now banned by the govt. as well because they hamper your car's crumple zone and also prevents deployment of airbags in case of a crash.
4. Driving Habit:
Whole and sole of the fuel economy depends on your driving habit. If think you are a Formula One driver and can drive in the same way, then delete the word fuel economy for your dictionary. Frequent and unwanted use of clutch, brake and harsh use of accelerator pedal results in bad fuel economy.
Maintain a speed of around 60-70 Km/h whenever you find a clear road and try to drive in 3rd or 4th gear atleast. Whenever you stop at a traffic signal for more than 2 minutes, switch the ignition off.
5. Windows:
You often think of saving fuel by switching off the Ac and opening the windows. In traffic conditions, it may save some fuel but on highways it is just the opposite case. You end up putting extra load on your car by opening the windows and driving above 70Km/h continuously. By opening the windows, you increase the drag on your car for which car has to burn extra fuel to compensate that drag.
Just close all the windows and switch on the Ac to optimal temperature setting. This will not only save your fuel but also keep you away from the pollution and unwanted tyre and wind noise.
6. Fuel Filling Station:
By following the above mentioned points, you still doesn't feel any difference in fuel economy of your car, then it might be a fault from the Fuel Filling Station. Sometimes, they tweek their machines in a way to fill less fuel for the same amount.
Try filling fuel from different or reputed fuel filling station of your city.
As you all are aware of current scenario, World is fighting against Covid-19 Virus (Corona Virus)This blog is created not only to save your fuel, but the main motive here is to save our Environment for our future generations.
